Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and MacroLeaf regarding your use of the MacroLeaf AI mobile application ("the App") and our support website. By creating an account, tapping "I agree", or using the App, you accept these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1.Acceptance & Definitions

"You" means the user of the App or website. "We", "us", "our" means MacroLeaf. "Content" means any data, text, photos, recipes, support messages, or logs you create or submit. "Services" means the App, the support website (macroleafai.in), and all features therein.

2.Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your country) to use the Services. By using them, you confirm you meet this requirement and have the legal capacity to accept these Terms. The Services are not intended for users requiring medically supervised nutrition.

3.License to Use the App

We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for your own non-commercial wellness purposes, subject to these Terms. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

4.The Service

MacroLeaf AI lets you track meals, calories, macronutrients, water, exercise, weight, and steps, and offers AI-assisted food identification and general nutrition guidance. We may add, modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time without liability.

Export Control: The App uses standard HTTPS/TLS encryption provided by Apple's operating system. It does not use, develop, or distribute proprietary cryptography. The App is classified as a mass-market product with standard encryption and qualifies for export under U.S. EAR 5D002 license exception ENC. You agree not to use, export, or re-export the App in violation of U.S. export laws, embargoes, or sanctions.

5.Accounts & Security

• You are responsible for safeguarding your login credentials and for all activity under your account.
• Provide accurate information and keep it current.
• Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use.
• You may delete your account at any time from within the App in Settings → Delete Account.

6.Not Medical Advice

Wellness app declaration. MacroLeaf AI is published by an independent developer as a general wellness and nutrition tracking application. It is not published by a healthcare provider, medical institution, hospital, insurance company, or any regulated healthcare entity. We provide no medical, diagnostic, treatment, or healthcare service of any kind. We do not employ doctors, nurses, dietitians, or any licensed healthcare professionals.

• The App provides general wellness, fitness, and nutrition tracking information only. It is not a medical service.
• The App is not a medical device. It has no FDA, CE, or other regulatory clearance, and it does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or condition.
• All calorie targets, BMR, TDEE, macronutrient values, weight projections, and hydration goals are estimates calculated using published peer-reviewed equations (Mifflin-St Jeor 1990, IOM DRI 2005, WHO/FAO/UNU 2001, Hall et al. 2011). • AI-generated values (photo scan, voice log, AI Coach responses) are approximations and may contain errors. They are not validated for any individual user's medical needs.
• If you have any medical condition — including diabetes (type 1, 2, or gestational), prediabetes, hypertension, thyroid disorder, PCOS, kidney disease, heart disease, eating disorder, cancer, autoimmune condition, pregnancy, breastfeeding, postpartum, or any condition for which you take prescription medication — you must consult a licensed physician or registered dietitian before relying on the App.
• You should also consult a doctor before starting a calorie deficit greater than 500 kcal/day, fasting for more than 24 hours, or making any major change to your diet or exercise routine.
• The AI Coach is not a doctor. It is an automated assistant. It will refuse to give medical advice and will direct you to a qualified professional when asked about medical conditions.
• In an emergency (chest pain, fainting, severe symptoms, suicidal thoughts, etc.) call emergency services in your region (112 in EU, 911 in US, 112 in India). Do not use the App for emergencies.
• Never disregard or delay professional medical advice because of anything you read or see in the App.
• By using the App, you acknowledge these limitations and agree that MacroLeaf AI is not liable for medical outcomes arising from your use of the App.

7.AI Content & Estimates

• Food photo scans, voice logging, and the AI Coach use artificial intelligence and produce approximate estimates, not exact or guaranteed values.
• AI responses are generated automatically, may contain errors, and should be verified for anything important.
• The AI Coach is an automated assistant — not a human, doctor, or dietitian.
• Reporting AI responses. If you encounter an AI Coach reply you find inappropriate, inaccurate, or harmful, you can report it using the ⚠️ icon in the AI Coach header. Your report includes a quote of the AI response and a description you provide. We review every report and use it to improve the hardcoded safety rules that bound the AI's output. Reports are stored in our support system per our Privacy Policy.
• Single-user chats. AI Coach conversations are private to your account. Other users do not see your chats. There is no chat functionality between users in the App.

8.Health & Third-Party Data

• With your permission, the App reads Apple Health activity to display your progress, as described in our Privacy Policy.
• Nutrition data may come from public databases (e.g., Open Food Facts, USDA) and may be incomplete or inaccurate.
• You are responsible for verifying any nutrition information that affects your health.

9.Support & Chatbot

• Chatbot answers are generated by an AI model. They may be inaccurate or incomplete and are not a substitute for actual support. Do not rely on chatbot answers for decisions with financial, medical, or legal consequences.
• Support tickets submitted via the form or by email are reviewed by our small team. We aim to respond within 24–48 hours but make no guarantees.
• Misusing support (spam, abuse, harassment, illegal content) may result in account suspension or refusal to respond.
• By submitting a message you confirm the content is yours, accurate, and not unlawful.

10.Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Services for any unlawful, harmful, or fraudulent purpose.
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, hack, or attempt to disrupt or overload the Service or the support chatbot.
• Upload harmful, offensive, infringing, or misleading content.
• Use the App to provide medical or professional advice to others.
• Access the Services through unauthorized automated means or resell them.
• Attempt to gain access to administrative areas or other users' data.

11.Your Content

You retain ownership of the Content you create (recipes, meals, logs, support messages). You grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, process, and display that Content solely to operate the Services for you and respond to your support requests. You are solely responsible for your Content and confirm you have the right to submit it.

Copyright Infringement (DMCA): If you believe any Content on the Services infringes your copyright, send a written notice to support@macroleafai.in including: (a) your contact information, (b) a description of the copyrighted work, (c) the URL or location of the allegedly infringing material, (d) a good-faith statement, and (e) your physical or electronic signature. We will remove or disable access to material we determine to be infringing and may terminate repeat infringers' accounts.

12.Pricing & Subscriptions

MacroLeaf AI is currently free to use. No in-app purchases or subscriptions are required to use any feature. If we introduce paid features in the future, pricing, billing period, and renewal terms will be shown before purchase. Payments would be processed by Apple and governed by Apple's terms. Any subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the period; manage or cancel in your App Store account settings. Refunds are handled by Apple per their policies.

13.Intellectual Property

The App, including its design, code, logos, trademarks, and content (excluding your Content), is owned by MacroLeaf and protected by intellectual-property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without our prior written consent.

Apple App Store / EULA: The App is licensed to you on the App Store under Apple's Standard End User License Agreement (EULA) as supplemented by these Terms. Apple is not a party to these Terms and is not responsible for the App or its support. In the event of any conflict between these Terms and Apple's Standard EULA, Apple's Standard EULA shall prevail to the limited extent necessary. You acknowledge that Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support services for the App, and that any claim relating to the App is the responsibility of MacroLeaf, not Apple. Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

14.Third-Party Services

The Services rely on third-party providers (e.g., Supabase, Vercel, OpenAI, Groq, Apple, Google, Open Food Facts, USDA, The HostMe). We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or policies of these third parties, and your use of them may be subject to their own terms.

15.Disclaimers

• The Services are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
• We do not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that calorie/macro/activity/chatbot data is accurate or complete.
• Your use of the Services is at your own risk.

16.Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, MacroLeaf and its team shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, health outcomes, or profits, arising from your use of or inability to use the Services. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us (if any) in the 12 months before the claim.

17.Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless MacroLeaf from any claims, damages, or expenses arising out of your misuse of the Services, your Content, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.

18.Termination

You may stop using the App and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service or other users. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (e.g., disclaimers, liability, IP) will survive.

19.Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date reflects the latest version. Continued use of the Services after changes means you accept the updated Terms.

20.Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. You agree that any dispute will be resolved in the courts of United States, unless applicable law requires otherwise. Where permitted, the parties will first attempt to resolve disputes informally by contacting each other.

21.General Provisions

• Severability: if any provision is found invalid, the rest remain in effect.
• Entire agreement: these Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us.
• No waiver: failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.
• Assignment: you may not assign these Terms; we may assign them to a successor.
• Force majeure: we are not liable for failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
